How to Measure Windows for Curtains — An Illustrated Guide

Accurate measurements make sure your curtains look perfect. Follow this simple guide.
Tools You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- Paper and pen
- A ladder (for tall windows)

Step 1: Measure the Width
Measure the width of the window from one edge of the frame to the other. Add 15-20cm on each side so the curtains cover the window completely when closed.
Formula: Window Width + 30-40cm = Curtain Width
Step 2: Measure the Height
Measure from where you want to install the rod/track down to the bottom:
- Sill length: Add 15cm below the window sill
- Floor length: Subtract 2cm from the floor so the curtains don't drag
- Puddle effect: Add an extra 5-10cm on the floor for a luxurious effect
Step 3: Consider the Style
- Eyelet & pleat: Need 2x the window width for fullness
- Roller & venetian blinds: Exact measurements to fit the window frame
Important Tips
- Measure each window separately — don't assume they're all the same size
- Take measurements at 3 points (top, middle, bottom) and use the smallest
- If in doubt, ask the LangsirKita team to come and measure for free!
