Curtain Care & Washing Tips — Long-Lasting & Always Beautiful

Properly cared-for curtains can last 3-5 years without needing to be replaced. Here is the complete guide.
How Often to Wash
How often to wash depends on where the curtain hangs and what fabric it is.
- Regular curtains: Every 3-6 months
- Kitchen: Every 1-2 months (exposed to grease)
- Bedroom: Every 6 months
- Sheer curtains: Every 2-3 months (dirt shows easily)

Washing Tips by Fabric
Each fabric needs a different washing method. Always check the care label before washing.
Polyester
- Machine washable (gentle cycle)
- Warm water, not hot
- Don't use bleach
- Hang to dry, don't use a dryer
Cotton/Linen
- Soak in cold water for 30 minutes
- Hand wash or use a gentle cycle
- Hang straight away so there's no need to iron
- May shrink slightly — this is normal
Velvet/Suede
- Dry clean only
- Don't wash them yourself
Roller Blind
- Wipe with a damp cloth
- Don't soak in water
- Use a little mild soap if needed
Daily Tips
A little everyday care keeps curtains clean for longer between washes.
- Vacuum your curtains every 2 weeks to remove dust
- Open the windows in the morning to air out odours
- Don't pull too hard — use the rod/track properly
- Avoid direct sunlight on delicate fabrics
When Is It Time to Replace Them?
- The colour has faded badly
- The fabric has worn thin and torn
- The creases can no longer be removed
- The design is outdated
